Who Dey, Band Aids and Pack look like they'll remain unbeaten
Spead Beaters have slim odds (and a 16% chance) of rallying tonight to beat Who Dey
Three teams aim to remain unbeaten after most of the Week 2 schedule has been played out. Only Matt Pringle's Spread Beaters have any realistic shot at rallying with a Monday Night Football performance.
Pringle trails 112-75 but does have Giants QB Jaxson Dart and Rams WR Davante Adams left on the field, but the JSFL prognosticators have those two combined efforts falling 8 points short. But Pringle was digging out of an even deeper hole before Sunday night's Chiefs-Colts game. He was down 112- 34 before Jonathan Taylor responded with 25 and Travis Kelce 16.
But despite that, you have to hand it to the scoring consistency of Who Dey (126 in the opener, 112 in Week 2) and, even though I hate to type this, the Band Aids, who scored 114 in Week 1 and 94 this week. I don't include the 2-0 Packers in that group because they only have only scored a measly 69 points so far (Rams RB Kyren Williams might get a few tonight). The Pack nonetheless should almost assuredly get past WTNE, which stands for Worst Team Name Ever but could be replaced at this point with WTITL (Worst Team in the League). Jordan Garcia's soon-to-be 0-2 WTNE does have Cam Skateboo going tonight but trails by 26.
The teams bouncing back from opening week losses appear to be the Rangers, who trail the Tirades 90-89 but have Matt Stafford going, so need only two points from last year's NFL MVP to win that one; and the Invaiders, who hold an 84-72 lead over the Gerbils. The Invaiders are done but the Gerbils still have hope, with the Rams D going tonight.
We'll have complete recaps tomorrow morning, but do have some observations today: Yours truly could have read weather reports before heading to Levi's Stadium yesterday morning, noting that Bears QB Caleb Williams (39 points in Week 1) would be playing in a torrential downpour and backup Brock Purdy was lounging around where it was 72, sunny and his opponent, the Miami Dolphins, were not going to play defense. Williams scored 9 before exiting with an injury; last I checked Purdy had thrown 28 points up on the board. Also making poor QB start decisions yesterday: Jordan, who started Baker Mayfield (11) over Dak Prescott (29) ... granted, Baker was going against the Browns, but again, RAIN, and lightning. Vern had no good options at QB yesterday as Justin Herbert (starter, 7) and Trevor Lawrence (bench, 5) both stunk. Sure, because of RAIN. And last on the list, the Recliners could have only lost by 11 instead of 25 had they started Pat Mahomes (28) instead of Lamar Jackson (14). No rain in KC last night!
