Packers coast to another title

Updated: Dec 30, 2025

Jeff Lambert adds another plaque with his name on it to the JSFL's perpetual trophy with a 113-86 victory over the Recliners

All hail to the chief. League commissioner and Packers owner Jeff Lambert has won the JSFL championship. Again.

QB and Super Bowl MVP Drake Maye led the way with 33 points and first-round pick RB Christian McCaffrey capped a comeback player of the year worthy effort with 24 points as the Packers built up a 72-point lead going into the Monday night game between the Lambs and the Falcons, in which opponent Chris Zimnoch had four of his nine starters participating (and all four are Lambs).

But any hope of a stunning comeback was tossed out the window as the Falcons jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead and held on for a 27-24 win. Recliners QB Matt Stafford threw two picks and finished with 12. WR Puka Nacua was held in check most of the night and finished with 10. A bobbled (amazing) catch on the sideline and a pass interference (not called) in the final minute kept him from adding to his total. The Rams defense only scored 6, and that's only because Jarred Verse blocked a third-quarter field goal attempt, recovered the ball and returned it for a TD (and gave a "peace out" sign to the Falcons bench on the way... how was that not taunting?). Kyren Williams, the last of the Recliners players from the Lambs on Monday night, recovered from an awful first half to post a 12.

I'll do the math for you. Monday night's Recliners scoring from their Lambs starters was a lot less than 72. Win for Jeff. Like we needed another of those!

2026 Draft Update

This will be our 40th year, so we're celebrating another decade of JSFL activity with a Draft in Las Vegas on Saturday, Aug. 29.

Instead of renting a house as we did last time, commissioner/2025 champion Jeff Lambert has indicated that he has connections (insert mob reference here) and we'll likely be getting rooms and a suite for the draft at the South Point Casino.

Invaiders owner Vern Ahrendes, the league's Golf Ambassador, will be planning golf outings on Friday, Aug. 28 at an 18-hole course and in the morning on draft day at a Par-3 course for the traditionalists in the crowd (that includes yours truly).

Please let Vern know if you are planning to play one or both of those outings.

We'll be back soon with more details and a list of the free-agents-to-be for 2026.

Draft order

Near as I can tell, here's the draft order for 2026:

  1. Band Aids

  2. Rangers

  3. Tirades

  4. Who Dey

  5. Invaiders

  6. WTNE

  7. Gerbils

  8. Spread Beaters

  9. Recliners

  10. Packers
