Bijan's big night has Invaiders giddy
Much like the Falcons rose from the ashes last night, WTNE did also behind the huge game from WR Drake London
Thursday night could not have gone any better for the JSFL teams that were counting on some scoring from the Falcons and even the hapless Packers (the NFL team, not your team Jeff). And that was not good news for the three remaining unbeaten teams in the JSFL.
Vern Ahrendes' Invaiders (1-1) pounded out a 32-0 lead over Who Dey (2-0) thanks to a huge performance from Bijan Robinson, who ran over, through and around the Green Bay "defense" on his way to 32 points and the Falcons throttled the Packers 35-14. It was a far cry from just a week ago, when Robinson was held to 7 points as Falcons got their winged asses handed to them by Carolina (34-3). The Invaiders now have a 66% chance of handing Matty McCumber's team its first loss of the season, unless his "Bunch a Bengals" can rally him in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Another beneficiary of the Falcons decision to "Rise Up" from the dead this week was Jordan Garcia, whose winless WTNE benefitted from the first start of the season by Falcons QB Michael Penix — Garcia has Falcons WR Drake London, who scored a whopping 7 points total in his first two starts with Cooper Rush at QB for Atlanta. Thursday night, Penix went to London early and often and the result was a 19-point effort. London was so busy that he was gassed on a late 65-yard reception that probably should have gone for a TD, had he not collapsed at the 6. Anyway, WTNE holds a one-point lead over the Spread Beaters in the battle of the winless as a result (19-18).
Matt Pringle's 18 points came from Green Bay QB Jordan Love, who had put up 20 but tossed a late interception. Love was fighting for survival all game, which a patchhwork offensive line and no running game whatsoever. The Falcons defense knew he'd be passing 80% of the time and still allowed 312 yards passing and two TDs. WTNE has a 56% chance of coming out of this one with ther first victory of the season.
In the other two games that had players scoring on Thursday, both involving unbeaten teams, the Tirades (1-1) took a 15-0 lead over Jeff Lambert's Pack (2-0) thanks to Love's primary target, WR Christian Watson (92 yards and a TD) and Bob Garcia's Band Aids (2-0) got only 2 from Green Bay TE Tucker Craft against the Rangers (1-1). The Tirades are now a 65% favorite over the Packers and the Rangers are 62% likely to topple the Band Aids.
Neither the Gerbils (1-1) nor the Reclners (0-2) had any players going in the Thursday night game.
