Invaiders, held together with duct tape and bailing wire, on the cusp of crucial division victory over Beaters; Packers look to close the door on Band Aids tonight

Mike Evans (Go Niners!) scored 19 points Sunday for the Gerbils, who beat down the Tirades 116-87.

It was a wild and crazy weekend in the NFL and the big winners in the JSFL, at least for the teams with Ws in the books, are the Gerbils and the Recliners. Looming in the wings are the Packers and the Invaiders, who will likely close out victories after the Monday Night game between the Bills and the Rams.

The Gerbils (4-1) are poised to move into a four-way tie for the ST division lead after throttling the Tirades (2-3). Both running backs for the Gerbils scored 30 points or more as they rolled to an easier-than-expected 116-86 victory. Keeper Jamyr Gibbs had 32 and Jaylen Warren 30 for Chuck Nelson's squad, who also got 19 each from WRs George Pickers and Mike Evans (Go Niners!). It did not help that the Tirades benched WR Christian Watson (who scored 26) and went with Deebo Samuel (who scored 1 before fumbling and leaving the game with an injury) instead. Thankfully, the 49ers beat the Seahawks 32-29 yesterday (Go Niners!) to take some of the sting out of this one for yours truly.

The Recliners (2-3) have also put a win in the books, handing Jordan Garcia and WTNE (0-5) their fifth consecutive loss to open the season. Backup QB Tyler Huntley of the Ravens led six players in double figures for Chris Zimnoch, scoring 24 points in the Sunday night OT win over the Falcons. WTNE had a season-high 85 points in the loss, led by TE Isaiah Likely's 21.

Jeff Lambert and his Packers are poised to upset the unbeaten (and overdue for a loss) Band Aids, who came into the game 4-0 but trail 83-51 going into tonight's MNF game. Both teams have two players going, and all of them are capable of an explosive game: The Packers have running backs James Cook and Kyren Williams, while the Band Aids counter with QB Josh Allen and WR Puka Nacua. This could be a shootout to the final gun, but ESPN's brain trust says the Band Aids have a 5% chance of pulling out a victory.

The Invaiders (2-2) are also looking to close out a win tonight. Vern Ahrendes has gone to the free agent well early and often to keep competitive and is leading the Silent Division as a result. The Invaiders are up 118-87 in a pivotal early-season divisional game against the Spread Beaters (1-3) and the Beaters have WR Davante Adams going tonight, but need a 31-point game from the Rams receiver to pull off the upset.

Matty McCumber's Bengal-heavy Who Dey (3-1) are also poised to take a share of the ST division lead. Who Dey has closed out it's scoring with 90 and lead the Rangers by 39. John Lambert has Rams QB Matt Stafford going tonight, and he's certainly capable of a huge game, but John lost this one before the weekend even started: He left in Bears RB Kyle Monangai (who was out -- he should have been dropped for Jacory Croskey-Merritt (14), MarShawn Lloyd (15) or anyone with a pulse) and had Malik Nabers (18) on the bench because of his Steelers bias (DK Metcalf, who scored 2).

Complete recaps coming tomorrow.
