James Cook helps Packers take over sole possession of the top spot in the ST Division, Beaters remain atop Silent Division despite loss.

How does the old saying go? Life is what gets in the way of your best-laid plans?
The Tirades announce they are in Fire Sale mode last week, then drop 147 points on one of the league's best teams. That's 40 points of over production. And where were some of those points the weeks they underperformed by 20? Sheesh.
And now what for the Tirades? Are they out of it? Are they back in it? Were they ever in it? Are they always out of it?
It doesn't matter. I gave up a week ago and nothing, not even a season-high point outburst, will convince me otherwise. Jonathan Taylor? Yeah folks... he scored more than 30. Again! And he's available. TiradeMart is open for business, 24/7. Make an offer.
While the Tirades were scoring well into the triple digits, opposing owner Matt Pringle was lamenting his 57 points and lack of scoring midday on Sunday. Gradually his texts grew less and less depressing as his team approached 100 points and some semblance of normalcy. You can partly thank TE Tucker Kraft for that as he went off for 26 points on Sunday night against the Steelers (sorry, John Lambert). But that wasn't near enough to make a game of it.
The Packers, meanwhile, improved to 6-2 with a lopsided win over the Recliners (5-3), so much for a Super Bowl preview there. The Gerbils dropped into second place in the Shit Talkers Division at 5-3 with a loss to the shocking Who Dey (4-4), who won their fourth in a row after an 0-4 start. The Invaiders (3-5) rolled over and played dead against the Rangers (2-6) and WTNE (5-3) knocked off the Band Aids (1-7).
Swami Update
Swami got the upsets all wrong here, picking the Gerbils over Who Dey, his Invaiders over the Rangers and the Beaters over the Tirades. His 2-3 record over the weekend put him at 23-17 on the season, inching closer to .500 every week.
Week 8 Results
Tirades 147, Beaters 93: The aforementioned 2025 king of running backs, Jonathan Taylor, went off again -- this time for 35 points. Trying not to be outdone, backfield teammate Breece Hall scored 30 as well. The Tampa Bay defense added 26. The Lazarus of QBs, Daniel Jones, added 22 and even yours truly's last-minute TE pickup, Oronde Gadsden II (who?), joined the scoring party with 13. It did not matter that on Monday night, Flex Isaiah Pacheco and K Harrison Butker combined for 9. Pringle was happy to get the 26 from Kraft and 20 for his last-minute pickup, WR Troy Franklin.
Packers 106, Recliners 59: Jeff Lambert's team extended his league scoring lead with this one, led by RB James Cook's 33 points and 26 from QB Drake Maye. RB De'Von Achane added 14 and it didn't matter that first-round pick Christian McCaffrey had only 6 points. When your K is your leading scorer, that's always a sign of trouble and that was the case here for Chris Zimnoch's team, who were led by K Tyler Loop's 13. It did not help that the Bengals defense barfed up a -7.
Who Dey 106, Gerbils 103: Matty McCumber pulled another rabbit out of his hat last weekend as his team fought back to .500 after an 0-4 start. Bounce-back performances by QB Jordan Love (28) and RB Chase Brown (22) led the way. The Bills defense added 17. Chuck was praying that Pat Mahomes would go off on Monday night and salvage the win, but had to settle for 22 points and the loss.
WTNE 102, Band Aids 94: It's about time, but Jordan Garcia finally got a Saquon Barkley sighting last weekend with a 29-point effort. Justin Herbert added 25 and pass-catching partner Ladd McConkey had 14. The Band Aids got 19 from Derrick Henry and 16 from both Rashee Rice and Javonte Williams.
Rangers 89, Invaiders 84: Josh Allen scored 23 and kicker Chris Boswell 20 as the Rangers scored the upset win. Vern Ahrendes was happy to get 23 from QB Bo Nix and 15 from TE Jason Swift, but unhappy with just about everything else, especially the donut from Jordan Mason after Vikings RB Aaron Jones returned from IR a week earlier than expected.
