The good news, Jordan? You are 2-0

The bad news is that your star running back, Nick Chubb, may need a knee replacement. And the vultures (that's you, Matt Pringle) have already started circling.

Nick Chubb suffered a season-ending knee injury on Monday night against Pittsburgh.

So, the Worst Team Name Ever improved to 2-0 with a narrow victory over the Packers this week, as Jordan Garcia's team managed a two-point margin of victory despite losing keeper RB Nick Chubb to a "gruesome" knee injury that was deemed to graphic to be shown during the Monday Night Football telecast. Interesting that Joe Theisman's broken leg during a Monday night game a gazillion years ago was on an endless replay loop, but I digress.

Losing Chubb might not matter for WTNE as they also have Christian McCaffrey, but the depth at RB ends there (backups are Michael Pittman and Zach Charbonnet) but since Jordan already traded away his first-rounder to improve at WR (acquiring Calvin Ridley from the opposing team at halftime in week one), the JSFL Today staff is wondering how much the team is willing to leverage in their first season in the league. Matt Pringle was also wondering, and the turf where Chubb lay in pain was still warm when Pringle was firing off an e-mail offering one of his five running backs in return for a draft pick. Pringle is obviously smarting from his upset loss to the Blayzing Saddles last weekend, a team that owner Blayze Hanson said "probably would not win a game all year."

Another team suffering through an injury to a star RB was the Invaiders, who saw Saquon Barkley go down with an ankle injury late in an otherwise exciting come-from-behind victory by the Giants over the hapless Cardinals. An MRI showed that it was only a low ankle sprain, and he's day-to-day.

Bob Garcia's Band Aids are the only other unbeaten team, improving to 2-0 with an easy win over the Recliners. The Gerbils and Tirades are winless and the rest of the league is 1-1.

An early look at Week 3 matchups has WTNE going up against the Spread Beaters in the battle for the Silent Division lead, and the Band Aids take on the red-hot Rangers in an interdivision clash.

Here's a look at week two results...

RANGERS 123, TIRADES 80: No surprise here. The Rangers rode the Pittsburgh defense (25 points, and wow that Steelers team has no offense) to the victory. Jalen Hurts added 24 and Keenan Allen 23. Gabe Davis and Deebo Samuel both had 15 for the Tirades, who are on their way to an 0-for-2023 season.

BAND AIDS 109: RECLINERS 57: Pat Mahomes led the way with 21 points and they got a combined 33 more from RBs Bijan Robinson and Kenneth Walker III as the Band Aids rolled to victory over the Recliners, who got 15 from RB Zach Moss and not much else.

INVAIDERS 107, GERBILS 81: Lamar Jackson scored 22 points and Barkley had 20 before his sprained ankle as the Invaiders evened their record at 1-1. Vern also got 15 each from James Cook and the Cowboys defense, which did not have to face Aaron Rodgers. The Gerbils, who dropped to 0-2, got a combined 39 points from receivers Tee Higgins and Davonta Smith.

SADDLES 97, BEATERS 78: Who needs Aaron Rodgers anyway? Not the Packers, or the Saddles for that matter, who got 20 points from Green Bay QB Jordan Love in a stunning upset win over the Not-So-Much-World Beaters. Tampa Bay's defense add 17 and Davante Adams 14 for the Saddles. Pringle got 18 from T.J. Hockenson and 15 from Derrick "Want Me, Jordan?" Henry.

WTNE 89, PACKERS 87: Nick Chubb managed to score 6 points on Monday night before his season-ending injury, but that was enough to give Jordan the victory over the commissioner's Pack. QB Justin Herbert added 22 points and McCaffrey had 18 for the winners. Jeff Lambert got a rebound performance from QB Josh Allen, who scored 22, and 23 more from Mike Evans.
