Recliners triumph, retake Silent Division lead

Updated: Oct 25, 2022

Balanced scoring attack does in Beaters; Packers, Tirades and Gerbils move into 4-way tie for first in ST Division

WR Tyreek Hill led the Recliners with 17 points.

Chris Zimnoch's Recliners (4-2) regained sole possession of first place in the Silent Division as all but one of his starters scored in double-digits in a 102-72 flogging of the Spread Beaters (3-3) in Week 6.

Tyreek Hill led the way with 17 points and only TE George Kittle (7) did not score in double digits. Saquon Barkley added 15 and QB Lamar Jackson had 16 for the Recliners, and kicker Brandon McManus sent the team over 100 points for the week with a 15-point effort on Monday Night Football against the Chargers.

QB Jalen Hurts and RB Kenneth Walker III both had 16 to lead the bye-depleted Spread Beaters in the loss. they were without starting RB Derrick Henry and TE TJ "See, I Had One Good Game" Hockenson.

As for the rest of the league, everyone is now 3-3 except Bob Garcia's Band Aids, who dropped to 2-4 with a loss to the Gerbils (see below... way, way below). The ST Division now has a four-way tie for first place. Here's the rest of the Week 6 roundup...

Tirades 91, Saddles 34: The blowout of the week is what created the logjam atop the ST Division standings as the Tirades (3-3) somehow limited themselves to one stupid lineup decision: starting Bills WR Isaiah McKenzie (donut) instead of 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (20, but he had not scored more than 9 this season). It was the second-consecutive win for the Tirades, who moved into the four-way tie for first. Blayze, just back from vacation, watched his entire team go on vacation. He did not have a single starter manage to reach double-digits, let alone QB Justin Herbert, who managed only 7 Monday night against the Denver defense. The Saddles (3-3) got a whopping 4 points total from their RB tandem of Aaron Jones and Jeff Wilson; meanwhile the Tirades backfield of Dalvin Cook and free-agent pickup Rhamondre Stevenson combined for 33. While the bumbling, perhaps still concussed McKenzie wasn't able to get a single point for the Tirades, fellow Bills WR Stefon Diggs went wild, scoring 20 for his fourth double-digit game of the season. Diggs now has scored 99 points on the year. The Saddles did manage to remain in first -- well, a four-way tie for first -- despite a second consecutive loss.

Packers 84, Invalids 54: Vern Ahrendes has won several games this season despite some low-scoring offense, but this wasn't one of those. Jeff Lambert's Pack also won their second straight game despite some severe issues at running back, and joined he four-way tie for first in the ST Division. As usual, QB Josh Allen led the Pack with 27 and Ja'maar Chase added 25 and those two almost outscored Vern's motley crue. Jeff picked up Darrell Henderson to replace injured JK Dobbins, and his 10 points was the only other double-digit scorer on the day while Dameon Pierce and Josh Jacobs had a bye week. The Invalids were led by free agent QB pickup Geno Smith of the Seachickens, who scored 17. RB David Montgomery and WR Cooper Fucking Kupp both had 12 and Travis Fucking Kelce added 10 but Vern got zero TDs from his "skill" players. Call him a Waaaambulance.

Rangers 80, Pillows 76: The Rangers (3-3) are not setting the world on fire as far as scoring goes, but they did have six of their eight starters score in double-digits as they held off the Pillow Biters to improve to 3-3 and into a four-way tie for second place in the Silent Division. RB Breece "Who?" Hall led John Lambert's team to the win for the second consecutive week, scoring a team-high 17 points. The Cardinals defense added 13 and QB Matt Stafford had 12. Matt Huey's Pillow Biters (3-3) were led by QB Kyler Murray's 21 points. Nick Chubb added 14.

Gerbils 85, Band Aids 68: Chuck Nelson's team moved into the four-way tie for first and sent Garcia to the cellar (OK, he's only a game out of first) in the process as QB Joe Burrow led the way with 32 . These teams had three guys going on Monday night, which could have provided excitement but instead provided as many Zs as that game did. Mike Williams had a single point for the Band Aids (2-4); Courtland Sutton and Gerald Everett combined for three points for the Gerbils (3-3). The Gerbils RB tandem of Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey (who is apparently now on the trading block in Charlotte) combined for 29 points. WR Gabe Davis added 13. QB Kirk Cousins led the Band Aids with 16.
