Packers win a shoot-out, Beaters a yawn-fest

Jeff Lambert's Pack is now the highest-scoring team in the league after a 131-123 win over the Gerbils, moving into a tie for first in the ST Division. Meanwhile, Matt Pringle's Spread Beaters scored only 76 points but defeated the punchless Rangers to hold onto first in the Silent Division.

It was everything we'd hoped it would be as the "Game of the Week" lived up to all the hype. The Packers, led by RB Christian McCaffrey (Go Niners!) and his 31 points, scored a season-high 131 and needed almost every one of them to knock off the division-leading Gerbils and move into a tie for first place at 5-2 in the Shit Talker's Division. Jeff's juggernaut is now averaging 105 points a game.
Pringle, on the other hand, picked a good week for his team to take a vacation — playing the Rangers helped, since John Lambert's team could only manage a paltry 57 points.
Fire Sale!
As predicted, the hapless Tirades again made stupid lineup changes on Sunday morning that cost them a victory and are now officially in Fire Sale mode. That means that stud RB Jonathan Taylor, who has scored three TDs in a game three times in seven games and is the league's leading scorer, is available (but will cost you).
Swami Update
Swami had a better than .500 week for a change and won three of five, improving to 21-14 on the season. He again mistakenly took the Tirades, who apparently treat being selected as the favorite as a slap in the face that needs to be avenged.
Week 7 Recap
Packers 132, Gerbils 123: If it had not been for an amazing effort from Lions RB Jamyr Gibbs (33 points on Monday night for Chuck Nelson's Gerbils) this one would have been a blowout. In addition to McCaffrey's 31 points, the Pack got 24 from WR AJ Brown and 23 from QB Drake Maye. K BRandon Aubrey added 17 and the Eagles Defense 11 for Jeff's Pack. QB Pat Mahomes had 25 and WR Davonte Adams 21 for the Gerbs.
WTNE 97, Tirades 87: Jordan Garcia's WTNE (4-3), led by strong efforts from QB Justin Herbert (27 points) and RB Quinshon Judkins (26), rallied past the Tirades (2-5) and helped get ignite the Fire Sale. The Tirades (2-5) picked up and subbed in WR Kendrick Bourne (1) on Sunday morning and benched RB Isaiah Pacheco (11), picked up a useless tight end in AJ Barner (donut) instead of just sticking with Kyle Pitts (6) and started the Jags Defense (-7) instead of Tampa Bay (7 despite a loss to the Lions). Duh.
Who Dey 92, Band Aids 90: Matty McCumber's Who Dey (3-4) won for the second week in a row, knocking off Bob Garcia's Band Aids (1-6). Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the way with 18 and K Evan McPherson had 17. Matty's Jacksonville connection came through with 32 more with QB Trevor Lawrence and WR Travis Hunter each scoring 16. For the Band Aids, RB Javonte Williams led the way with 17 and WR Rashee Rice scored 16 in his first game back from suspension.
Recliners 92, Invaiders 57: In game 1 of the weak and the scoreless, the Invaiders (3-4) took the week off against Chris Zimnoch's Recliners (5-2). QB Dak Prescott led the way with 22 (and got the MVP drumbeat going in the process) and TE Trey McBride added 19 for Chris. Vern got CeeDee Lamb (17) back but not much else. RB Jordan Mason had 11 for the Invaiders.
Beaters 76, Rangers 57: In game 2 of the weak and the scoreless, the Rangers (1-6) got 25 from QB Jalen Hurts and 15 from RB Cam Skateboo but almost nothing else. Meanwhile, Pringle's division-leading Beaters (6-1) survived thanks to 21 from QB Jayden Daniels, 19 from D'Andre Swift and 14 from Amon Ra St. Brown.
