A Super Bowl blowout?

This 2025 Super Bowl matchup of the two best teams in the league has all the makings of a blowout of biblical proportions.

Drake Maye leads the favored Packers against the Recliners in the 2025 JSFL Super Bowl.

Can you say Seahawks vs. Peyton Manning? How about the 49ers vs. the Chargers? Yeah, that kind of a blowout.

The Packers (13-2), winners of the Shit Talkers Division, open as 14-point favorites over Chris Zimnoch’s Recliners (10-5), winners of the Silent Division.

But that tricky Chris has been defying odds for several weeks now, and hosing my chance to post some really nice Swami predictions. But enough about me.

Let’s get to the real meat and potatoes of this matchup.

If Jeff wins, he puts a bow on a sensational season, becomes another worst-to-first turnaround championship, and will improve my provisional pick I received for trading him Travis Swift (from a 9th-rounder to a 7th-rounder). Yeah, it is all about me.

And, again, the odds are stacked mightily again against Chris and his mighty Recliners. And the odds makers at the NFL betting sites also don’t give Chris much of a fighting chance. So, should I say it again that I smell an upset brewing? Read on and find out.

Oh, and Merry Christmas to those who celebrate.

NFL Schedule

The NFL slate starts Christmas day with three games: The Dallas Cowboys travel to the nation’s capital to take on the Washington Commanders at 10 a.m. (PST). The Detroit Lions travel to Minnesota for the afternoon game (set for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff) and the slate ends with the Denver Broncos going to Kansas City for the night game (kickoff at 5:15 p.m.).

In that trio of games, only three players (all Packers) are set to play. Wideout George Pickens and kicker Brandon Aubrey will start the week of scoring and tight end Travis Swift will finish it.

Two more games are played Saturday as the Texans travel to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers (kickoff is at 1:30 p.m.) and the Baltimore Ravens travel to Green Bay for a 5 p.m. start. Only one player (Recliner kicker Tyler Loop) is set to play on Saturday.

The Sunday night game features the Chicago Bears at the San Francisco 49ers (Go Niners!), and will feature Packer RB Christian McCaffrey.

And the Super Bowl wraps up Monday with the Los Angeles Rams travelling to the Atlanta Falcons. And a whole mess of Recliners will be trying to rally for a huge comeback as QB Matthew Stafford, RB Kyren Williams, WR Puka Nacua and the Rams defense all are set to play.

Super Bowl Prediction

Packers vs. Recliners, Packers favored by 14: When we first started this campaign 16 weeks ago, the gut feeling is that these two teams were the odds-on favorites to face off. I can say that now even though I never mumbled a mention of it back in September. Just go with it. It sounds a lot better. The one time these two teams faced each other, it was an epic blowout by the Packers (106-59 in Week 8). We don’t think this one will follow a similar path, but the ESPN stats pinheads think Jeff’s Packers are favored at all but three starting positions. That is the making of death by a thousand cuts very possible for Chris. He might win a few battles, but he will have a tough time winning this war. Only three games on the NFL slate this week are favored to top 50 points (Thursday’s Cowboys at Commanders, the Cardinals at the Bengals Sunday, and the Bears at the 49ers Sunday night). The Monday Night blitz for Chris also shapes up well as the over/under for those two teams is at 49.5. The Packers get the positional nod at QB (Drake Maye is projected for 22), both RBs (Christian McCaffrey projected for 20 and James Cook III projected for 13). The Packers also get the edge at WR1 (A.J. Brown projected for 11), flex (RB De’Von Achane projected for 17) and the kicker (Aubrey projected for 9). The Recliners get the edge at WR2 (Ja’Marr Chase projected for 13), tight end (Trey McBride projected for 12), and the Rams defense (projected for 5). The likely scenario this weekend is that the Packers roar out to a huge lead through Sunday, and will hope to hang on Monday night. How big will that lead need to be going into Monday? Will a 60-point lead be enough with Puka, Stafford and Kyren all lighting up Atlanta? Will 50 be enough, or does Jeff need a 70-point lead? Either way, happy holidays everyone and here is to a happy New Year when Jeff or Chris are not in the Finals next year. Matty wants a piece of this pie. The Swami says the Packers will complete the worst-to-first rebound and win this by 10. And move that positional pick up to the 7th round, please.
