Championship to be decided this weekend

Cancellation of Monday Night game between Bills-Bengals means those players points will come from this Sunday's games

Bills safety Damar Hamlin appears to be headed to a full recovery after a frightening on-field cardiac arrest on Monday night against the Bengals.

The JSFL Championship result, on hold since the Monday night game was postponed earlier this week, will be completed this weekend as the two players involved -- Joe Mixon and Tee Higgins of the Recliners -- will collect points from their games this Sunday. Mixon, Higgins the Bengals go against the Ravens as the Recliners, who trail the Spread Beaters 97-73, hope to post a miraculous come-from-behind win.

While NFL fans everywhere (and most of the JSFL owners) have had their thoughts and prayers directed toward Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin after his heart stopped during that Monday Night game -- and we're happy to report he appears to be on his way to a full recovery -- longtime JSFL historian Vern Ahrendes was quick to report that the last time such an event happened (in 1971) the player died, was carted off the field on a stretcher and the game resumed shortly thereafter. "What gives these days?" Ahrendes asked, right before yelling at neighborhood youth to "get the hell of my lawn!"

A full recap of the championship game will be posted on Monday morning, but the Spread Beaters, whose scoring was completed without cardiac incident last weekend, have had an extremely balanced effort. All of Matt Pringle's starters scored in double-figures except T.J. "I Take Some Weeks Off" Hockenson, who had 5. And JSFL Today would like to apologize to Matt for shamelessly promoting Garder Minshew as starting QB over Daniel Brown of the Giants. Brown scored 36 and Minshew, Pringle's starter, had a whopping 12. Another benched Beaters player, RB De'Andre Swift, scored 22. Thankfully for the Recliners those two remained on the bench and he still has a shot (though it's unlikely). Chris Zimnoch's team has been led by QB Jared Goff's 22 points so far and Chris is hoping Mixon can repeat his 50-point explosion from earlier this season.
