Pack, Gerbils on the precipice?

Updated: Sep 25, 2024

Just to highlight this before we get too far into the preview for Week 3 – The Pack is winless. Let me repeat that. The Pack is 0-2.

Jordan Garcia is hoping that Joe Burrow will have his WTNE headed in the right direction this weekend against the Spread Beaters.

I don’t think we have ever seen Jeff still winless this far into the season. We have seen some crazy things early in this NFL season but this one takes the cake.

And, it might get worse as the Pack takes on the loaded Tirades (1-1) and is a big dog this week. I think I said last week an 0-2 start was like getting kicked in the nuts. An 0-3 start is even worse. That is like taking a baseball bat to the scrotum. And, Jeff is not alone. The Gerbils also are winless and face the upstart Recliners.

Elsewhere, the Game of the Week looks to be the defending champ Spread Beaters, still reeling from the kicking onslaught in Week 2, taking on the undefeated WTNE for a potential share of the Silent Division lead. The other undefeated team and coleader in the Silent Division, the Rangers, take on the Band Aids.

Here's a look at the week three matchups.

Game of the Week

Spread Beaters (1-1) vs WTNE (2-0), Spread Beaters favored by 2: This could come down to a two-man showdown Monday night as Joe Burrow will QB the Bengals against the porous Commanders defense while Pringle counters with flex RB Brian Robinson Jr. against the Bengals. The Spread Beaters carry advantages across the board at both starting RBs (Derrick Henry and Tony Pollard) and WR Tyreek Hill (we can’t wait to see how the loss of Tua complicates the Miami offense), the Chargers defense and the New Orleans kicker. Jordan gets an advantage at the other WR slot (Rashee Rice) and flex RB Alvin Kamara. Take the Beaters by 1.

The Close Ones?

The Recliners (1-1) vs The Gerbils (also known as “The Byes,” 0-2), Recliners favored by 4: Well, the good news is that Chuck (finally!) has a full team queued up for the first time this season. He might be better off keeping Tee Higgins (out) and AJ Brown (out) in there because the Recliners look unbeatable. Chris looks to have favorable matchups at several positions – WRs Garrett Wilson and DeVonta Smith, RB Bijan Robinson and the Texans defense. Chuck gets an advantage with RB Josh Jacobs (currently carrying a questionable tag, Chuck) over Joe Mixon (also carrying a questionable tag). Take the Recliners by 5.

The Tirades (1-1) vs The Pack (0-2), Tirades favored by 12: This one continues to baffle me, but some brutal matchups makes this one look like a potential blowout. The Tirades get position advantages at QB (Josh Allen, former Packer), RB Jordan Mason, WR Rashid Shaheed, TE Kyle Pitts and the Browns defense. The Pack gets the nod at WR1 (Ja’Marr Chase) and the flex with De’Von Achane. Take the Tirades by 5.

The Blowouts?

Rangers (2-0) vs Band Aids (1-1), Rangers favored by 20: This one also has all of the makings of a potential blowout. The Rangers have positional advantages at every position but one starter. The Rangers get the nod with Jalen Hurts at QB, RBs Breece Hall and Kyren Williams, WR2 Davante Adams, TE George Kittle and flex WR Mike Evans. The only position ESPN favors for the Band Aids is the Colts defense against Chicago. Take the Rangers and 10.

Invaiders (1-1) vs Who Dey (1-1), Invaiders favored by 12: The rookie is shaking things up this week, benching Zamir White for Jameson Williams at flex. Most of the positional advantages lean towards the Invaiders at QB (San Francisco), RB Jonathan Taylor, WR CeeDee Lamb (still carrying a questionable tag), TE Mark Andrews, flex WR Brandon Aiyuk and the Buccaneers defense. Matty from the ‘Natti gets positional advantages at RB2 James Cook and WR2 Chris Olave. Take the Invaiders by 10.
