One trade deadline passes... another looms

The NFL trade deadline came and went on Tuesday and a couple of notable moves were of current free agents in our league that could impact a team or two moving forward.

Topping the list of deals were the Seattle Seahawks landing WR Rachid Shaheed from New Orleans and WR Jakobi Meyers moving from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Shaheed will reunite with offensive coordinator Clint Kubiak in Seattle and probably forces a downgrade on Cooper Kupp (Rangers). Meyers’ move to Jacksonville looks to be insurance for injured starters Brian Thomas Jr. (Invaiders) and Travis Hunter (Packers, on injured reserve and out at least three more weeks). And the trade of Meyers also increases the scoring potential for TE Brock Bowers (WTNE).
With the NFL deadline now in the rear-view mirror, the next one of note is our own trade deadline on Nov. 26 and of this writing there was no word on trade offers Ron has received for anyone and everyone on his roster. Trade chatter likely will pick up once Colts RB Jonathan Taylor has another quality start north of 20 points. The Tirades’ trade hotline is (404) 200-0015. Text or data rates may apply. The other three free agents of note are Bijan Robinson (Recliners), WR Justin Jefferson (Who Dey) and WR CeeDee Lamb (Invaiders). And at least one other team owner said he would be selling next week. Stay tuned.
Week 10 Schedule
There are four more teams on a bye in Week 10 – the Dallas Cowboys, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tennessee Titans – and three of those teams have viable fantasy stars that will be sidelined. You can figure out which team I mean on your own.
An AFC West clash kicks off the Week 10 slate as the Las Vegas Raiders travel to Empower Field at Mile High to take on the Denver Broncos. The international mess of the week returns as the Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts travel to Berlin, Germany, for some brews and bratwurst and what could be another dismal display of the American pastime on foreign soil. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers wrap up action Sunday at 5:20 p.m. and the Philadelphia Eagles travel to Green Bay to take on the Packers Monday night.
Game of the Week
WTNE (6-3) vs. Spread Beaters (6-3), Beaters favored by 10: Whenever brothers or brothers-in-law tangle, one of those matchups likely vaults to the top of the “must-watch” consideration. The only drawback is that three of the four teams involved in the “brotherly battles” this week are likely vying for the first pick in next year’s draft. So, we will relegate those two battles to the “Best of the Rest” consideration and bring you, instead, a game that likely will shape who is still playing in mid-December. This matchup has all of the glitter and glam you would want from a postseason battle, and there is a chance these two teams may face each other at least one more time after this week. The winner is guaranteed at least a share of first in the Silent Division (there is a three-way tie with the Recliners). The Beaters get the edge at QB with the Giants’ gunslinger Jaxson Dart who takes on the Bears, both WRs in Drake London and Nico Collins, flex in WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and the Denver Broncos defense against the Raiders. Jordan has the edge at both RBs with Saquon Barkley and Quinshon Judkins, and tight end Tyler Warren. The Swami says take the Beaters and 5.
Best of the Rest
Packers (7-2) vs. Rangers (2-7), Packers favored by 34: The Packers are favored at almost every starting position in this battle of brothers. Jeff gets the edge at QB with Lamar Jackson, both RBs in De’Von Achane and Christian McCaffrey, both WRs in A.J. Brown and Deebo Samuel, tight end Sam LaPorta and flex in RB James Cook III, and kicker Cameron Dicker. The only positional edge John gets is the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense at the Los Angeles Chargers. Bar the doors. This one could get ugly quickly. Swami says take the Packers and 20.
Invaiders (4-5) vs. Recliners (6-3), Recliners favored by 17: Chris’ Recliners should win this one in a rout. He is favored at almost every position. He gets the edge at RB1 with Bijan Robinson, both WRs in Puka Nacua and DK Metcalf, tight end Trey McBride and flex in RB Rico Dowdle. The Invaiders only get an edge at RB2 with Bucky Irving and the Cleveland Browns defense. Not even our family wants to watch this one. Swami says take the Recliners and 12.
Tirades (3-6) vs. Band Aids (2-7), Tirades favored by 9: The brothers-in-law Ron and Bob might be battling for the first pick in the 2026 draft in Las Vegas and Ron will need to tank or trade away a bunch of guys to level this field. The Tirades come in favored at QB in Danny Dimes, both RBs in Jonathan Taylor and Breece Hall (stunning, he was not traded by the Jets), both WRs in Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka, tight end Oronde Gadsden II and the Jaguars defense. The Band Aids get the edge at flex in RB David Montgomery and Jake Bates at kicker. Swami smells an upset brewing and Ron is still stewing. Take the Band Aids and 2.
Dog of the Week
Gerbils (5-4) vs. Who Dey (4-5), Gerbils favored by 25: The line on this dog should get tighter as Sunday nears as Matty still has two Bengals (on bye) in his starting lineup as of this writing. The Gerbils are favored at both RBs in Jahmyr Gibbs and Jaylen Warren, tight end Dallas Goedert, the Detroit Lions defense at Washington and Chase McLaughlin at kicker. Who Dey gets the positional nod at QB with Jordan Love and WRs Jaxon Smith-Njigba and flex RB Rhamondre Stevenson (still listed as questionable). Swami says take the Gerbils and 15.
